Speech Courses - Speech Methods

Public Speaking is a learnt skill. At Speech Courses we consider there are basically 4 types of speeches and they are, firstly, my favourite - Inspirational, then Persuasive, Informative and Entertaining. That doesn't mean all speeches strictly follow one of the above in fact some speeches can have elements of all the types embedded within the speech. However there is usually a dominant type that overrides the speech. This can be an individual style showing through although I think it really becomes evident with a good speech that it highlights the specific purpose of the speech.

Having a specific purpose for your speech I believe is the first and most important part of planning your talk. It is like having a goal or target. When you know what you want to achieve , where you want to take your audience then the how to do it comes along very naturally. For example a talk about how to use the latest mobile phone. Obviously most people will know how to make and receive a call so time would be wasted on in-depth explanations there however many may not know how to take and send a photo with an email from your phone so your specific purpose may be " with this speech I will educate the audience on the extra features of the Nokia Z70 mobile phone.

This method of pinpointing exactly what you want your audience to be left with is very enlightening for your audience and is also very focusing for you both in your preparation and in your delivery. Your focus is projected away from your self and focused on your audience this helps over come your nerves and frees you to be a servant of the audience, A servant of the audience hash the audience interest first, demonstrates your passion for your topic and provides information with entertainment even persuasion.

I spent several years bumbling along thinking about me before I found this out and it has been transformational for me as a Speaker.
